For me interior design is not about following trends but creating timeless spaces.
Hi, I’m Emma
I’m an Edinburgh-based interior designer with a love for creating timeless, personal interiors. From childhood, I was drawn to how spaces can transform mood and tell a story. Theatre sets, costumes, and my own childhood bedroom taught me the power of colour, texture, and atmosphere.
Today, I bring that same storytelling into my work, designing homes that are not only beautiful but also deeply connected to the people who live in them. Whether I’m sourcing a single antique or managing a full home renovation, my focus is always on creating spaces that feel authentic, welcoming, and uniquely yours.
Creativity has always surrounded me. My mum sewed intricate dance costumes, while my parents nurtured my passion for antiques by taking me to markets and fairs. I also learned from my mum’s cousin, who ran a successful interior design studio and had an exceptional eye for upholstery and craftsmanship. These early influences gave me a lifelong appreciation for detail and design.
Before starting Emma Young Interiors, I trained and worked as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. That role taught me how profoundly our surroundings affect how we live, move, and feel — an insight I now bring into every project. For me, interior design is about more than aesthetics; it’s about creating homes that truly support the lives lived within them.
