Family Home Loft Conversion & Extension in The Grange, Edinburgh
A family in The Grange, Edinburgh, wanted more space but loved their neighbourhood. Through a smart loft conversion and extension, we created an additional bedroom and second bathroom, proving you don’t always need to move to live comfortably.
Recently I had the pleasure of designing a loft conversion and extension for a wonderful family in The Grange, Edinburgh. Deeply attached to their neighbourhood, they were keen to avoid moving but needed additional space — specifically a new bedroom and a second bathroom — to better support their growing family.
Rather than starting over in a new property, they chose to adapt the home they already loved. I was brought in to help design a calm, comfortable upper level that felt like a natural continuation of the house — not just an add-on. Working alongside skilled architects and builders, I helped reimagine the loft to maximise functionality while preserving the warmth and character of the original home.
We focused on soft, layered textures, timeless materials, and a muted palette that feels both classic and fresh. The result is a light-filled, relaxed space designed to grow with the family — blending traditional charm with thoughtful modern detail.
It’s a great example of how smart, considered design can transform the way a home works — and how, sometimes, the space you need is already there, just waiting to be reimagined.
